TOMAH -- Eau Claire North won its nonconference season-opener with a balanced inside-outside punch.

On the outside, senior guard Scooter Aspen, who was held scoreless over North’s final six games last season, hit two 3-pointers in the third quarter and scored a team-high 15 points.

Aspen’s backcourt mate, senior Emilee Planert, had a solid Huskies debut with 13 points -- including six in the first quarter. Planert transferred to North this year from Altoona, where she was the Railroaders’ leading scorer in each of the past three seasons.

Larissa Parr, North’s leading scorer last season with an average of 11.2 points per game, anchored the inside despite foul trouble and had 12 points.

The Huskies were without senior guard Nicki Robinson, who is nursing a bruised thigh muscle.
