Dan Sippel
Coach Sippel

Dan Sippel, who has served as an assistant coach at North in softball, football and basketball over the past eight years, will coach his first game as Varsity coach.

Sippel takes over the head coaching job from Chico LaBarbera. Coach LaBarbera took over a program in 1987 that had gone 5-56 over the three previous seasons. His tenure included back-to-back Big Rivers Conference titles, and the Huskies were 18-4 last year before a suffering a 56-40 upset loss to Menomonie in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal. Chico announced his retirement this summer.

While losing some key players from last years team a solid set of letter winners return from last year's 18-5 team. Returning players are Beth Hoenisch, Kricket Whyte, Scooter Aspen, Lindsey Rongstad, Nicki Robinson, and Larissa Parr. In addition, Emilee Planert, a 3-year starter at Altoona High School, has transfered to North and will be a key addition to the team. Also on the roster this season are Heather Quilling, Jessa Quick, Angela Ziehme, Gretchen Schroer, and Andrea Thorsness.

North opened last season with a 78-42 win over Tomah in a game played at the Dogpound. Tuesday's game begins at 7:30pm and will be held at Tomah High School.
