North shows holiday cheer
Everybody gets involved as Huskies humble Superior

All nine Eau Claire North players who stepped on the court scored at least five points as the Huskies ground out a 77-54 nonconference girls basketball victory over Superior Tuesday night.

Nicki Robinson led the way with 13 points for North, which cruised to a 34-20 lead by halftime at the Doghouse.
"This was a great way to go into the holidays," said North coach Chico LaBarbera, who was beaming about his team's effort.
North forced Superior into 31 turnovers and held a 46-29 edge in rebounds.
"We took a good Superior team and made them struggle," LaBarbera said.
Larissa Parr scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Bridget Aspen scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds for North.

Rachel Nettleson scored 13 points and Jodie Johnson 10 to lead Superior.
An 11-0 run that straddled the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter lifted North from a 10-7 deficit into an 18-10 lead.
Superior scored the next five points before North scored eight straight and went on to lead by at least eight for the rest of the game.
"Going into the game, we felt this was a challenge because Superior is an excellent team, because it came right after the Memorial game (a 52-42 North win) and because it's a Tuesday game three days before Christmas with no school," LaBarbera said. "All of those factors usually work against you. But the kids were focused, and they really met a challenge."
North shot 45 percent from the floor, while Superior shot 40 percent.
